The classic house was built in 1905 as the rectory for the Anglican Church and was renovated after the current owners purchased the property in 1996. It is a well-known local property, commonly referred to around town as `the Rectory’. The recent renovations radiate quality throughout and Birches on Burkes is situated in a beautiful garden setting on a quarter acre block, complete with our namesake birch trees. The garden is of Australian Open Garden Scheme standard. The shaded setting is ideal for relaxing and we also have a private courtyard for your enjoyment and convenience. We are a short walk (less than five minutes) to the main street where a variety of popular hotel and cafe meals are available, along with local shops for your convenience. Bourkes Road is easy to find and runs parallel to the Princes Highway on the eastern side of Terang. There is plenty to do in and around Terang, and Birches on Bourkes will be happy to help with local information gained from a lifetime of experience in the area.
